After my graduation, I joined the 1-year Training Programme of Atomic Energy Establishment Trombay Training School, Bombay (now Mumbai). I joined the Testing and Inspection Section of Atomic Fuels Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, Bombay on 1st August 1967 and was engaged in testing and inspection of uranium ingots and rods, and wall thickness monitoring of admiralty brass tubes using ultrasonic resonance thickness testing. In March 1968, I was transfered to Coolant Tube Processing Facility of Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, Kota and was involved in the incoming inspection, process quality control and final inspection of Zircaloy 2 coolant tubes for the RAPP I and II reactors under construction.
In November 1971, I was transfered to Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad. I was involved in the testing and inspection of zircaloy tubes (fuel tubes, Calandria Tubes, Coolant Tubes etc.), stainless steel tubes for nuclear and chemical industries, Stainless Steel plates and pressure vessels, in-service inspection of pressure vessels etc. I was also involved in training and certification of personnel, documentation, quality surveillance, Third Party inspection, vendor evaluation and vendor development, manpower recruitment etc.

I retired at the end of June 2008 from this wonderful organisation. I was heading the HRD, Corporate Communications and Library functions. Earlier, I was Manager of Quality Assurance upto 2004 and was leading a team of engineers, scientists and workmen in the areas of Materials Testing, Materials Inspection, Fabrication Quality Control, In-Service Inspection of Pressure Vessels, Quality Control of Critical Tubular products for the Nuclear Reactors.
NDT Level III , Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing , 2000 — 2000
I attended and successfully passed the ASNT Level III Refresher Course and ASNT Level III examination in November-December 2000 at Mumbai, India. The refresher course was conducted by ISNT and the exams were conducted by ISNT and ASNT. I passed the Level III exams in Basic, UT and RT in my first attempt. I held the Level III certificate till December 2005.
MIQA (UK) , Quality Assurance , 1984 — 1985
This is a self-study course consisting of 5 subjects and the exams were conducted in India by their affiliate IAPQR. I passed the five papers on various aspects of Quality Assurance Management between 1984 and 1985. Details available on request.
AMIE (India) , Metallurgical Engineering , 1969 — 1972
I registered for and passed the Section A and Section B examinations of Institution of Engineers (India) through self-study. I passed my Section A examination in 1971 and my Section B examination in 1972 (my first attempt). Details if needed. A pass in Section A and B of AMIE (India) is recognised as equivalent to BE or B.Tech degree in engineering.
B.Sc(Special) , Mathematics, Physics (Special), Chemistry , 1963 — 1966
I joined New Science College, Narayanaguda, Hyderabad in 1962 and was selected for the first batch of Bachelor of Science (Special) course launched by College of Science, OU. I shifted to University in 1963 and should have graduated in 1965 but fell sick. So, I repeated my third year and graduated in 1966 with a first class.
